In Lynn Painter’s new romantic comedy, an unexpected inheritance brings two young people from different worlds closer together, but a secret threatens to ruin everything.
Julia and Damion are neighbors. Until recently, she was just a small-town girl who loved her quiet life in Nebraska. However, when an elderly man—who is actually a multimillionaire—leaves his entire fortune to her and her family upon his death, the girl’s peaceful life is turned upside down.
The family moves to a historic (and very expensive) house in New York, and Julia soon begins attending an elite private school, exclusive to the city’s super-rich.
Everything is wonderful… right? Wrong! Adapting to the new school goes from bad to worse, and she’s about to fail. That’s when Damion enters the scene: mysterious, handsome, and intelligent, he’s perfect to help her with her studies—and, coincidentally, he’s her neighbor. But the boy is hiding a big secret.
Damion is the great-nephew of the man who left the inheritance and doesn’t believe for a second that his great-uncle, who was like a father to him, would leave it all to a bunch of strangers. Determined to uncover the truth, he devises a plan to win Julia’s trust. Unfortunately for him, she’s no fool and distrusts the rich, rebellious boy as soon as she meets him.
To make matters worse, the more time Damion spends with Julia, the more he feels his plan is backfiring. The problem? He’s falling for his enemy—and she’s falling for him. Will they be able to reconcile their differences and deal with their feelings for each other? Or will the trust Damion fought so hard to build be broken forever?
